[2] Feminist post-structuralist discourse analysis (FPDA) is a method of discourse analysis based on Chris Weedon 's theories of feminist post-structuralism, and developed as a method of analysis by Judith Baxter in 2003. FPDA is based on a combination of feminism and post-structuralism. Questioning the political and ethical grounds of language, the poststructuralist feminists considered here share a common opponent in patriarchal discourse, a feature that emerges in their readings of literature, philosophy, history, and psychoanalysis. Feminist post-structuralists argue that because of a long period of time during which words to describe women, girls and their experiences were hidden or “included” in words like “he,” and “man,” women lost their voice, their self-expression. Feminist post-structuralist theory can be taken as a third feminism, historically following on from, but not replacing, liberal feminism and radical feminism (Kristeva, 1981). The poststructuralist feminist Judith Butler conceived the idea of gender as performance, or the result of reiterated acting, and proposed the term Gender Performativity in her book Gender Trouble (1990).
